"Cuarto is a solo project that fuses acoustic instrumentation with computer processing and sampling. Cuarto (Max Feriche) is from Barcelona, but recently moved to London, where he composed, recorded, mixed and mastered ‘Segundas Partes’. The composition, recording, editing and mixing of each song has been almost simultaneous, making it difficult to tell where one thing begins and the other one ends. The album has a warm, intricate and rich collage sound, occasionally slightly reminiscent of The Books in their early years. ‘Segundas Partes’ means ‘second parts’ or ‘sequels’. Favoloso gioco di ritagli e incastri, tra spezzoni di film, malinconici arpeggi di chitarra e ritmiche electro-latin. Dopo l'anteprima del delizioso video di "Los Nunca Necesarios Pliegues", ecco arrivare il nuovo album di Cuarto (Max Feriche). E la breve aspettativa non viene per niente delusa. Un suono moderno, pieno,  decontestualizzante. Un Di Bos in versione spagnola, meno sperimentale e più solare o una versione di el sueño de la casa propia più acustica e melodica. Riferimenti sconosciuti improvvisati in alternativa ai "soliti" The Books. Un uso dell'elettronica responsabile, dosata magistralmente in modo da lasciare un buon sapore acustico in bocca, abilmente rilasciato dalle ipnotiche chitarre di Max Feriche. Un album che si accompagna bene per le imminenti serate estive, sdraiati in un prato a contemplare le stelle e a chiedersi per l'ennesima volta perchè. Altra piccola perla donata dall'olandese esc. rec. in copia con Bestiar.

Forse sarebbe ora di osare un po' di più e provare a spostare il tiro. The Fucked Up Beat, creatori di un noir-trip-hop dal sound oramai riconoscibile e digitalizzato in numerose release distribuite da importanti netlabels mondiali, tornano con la tedesca Phonocake con "The Situationists", nuovo tassello della prolifica produzione di Eddie Palmer e Brett Zehner. Il sound non si sposta dalle precedenti produzioni, mescolando samples di tempi remoti, tribalità ritmiche con cadenze hip-hop in ciclicità ipnotiche e lisergiche. Percorso singolare che si riversa in art-cover che si rincorrono con collage di foto datate e ricercate. Ambienti poco luminosi immersi in nebbioline artificiali. Serpenti in libera uscita da giornate trascorse con incantatori annoiati. Nulla di nuovo dalla Fucked Black Forest, anche se è sempre piacevole farsi trasportare nelle ambientazioni cinematografiche del duo americano. A quando un film indipendente con il soudtrack firmato The Fucked Up Beat?
