Perché non ti fermi? Così, improvvisamente, un piccolo scherzo, senza avvertire? Non sarebbe nè triste nè divertente. Sarebbe e basta. Guardo alle lotte impossibili con freddo distacco. Tutto c'è e non c'è, sorprendentemente insignificante. Tutta questa ossessionante smania a dover lasciare su questo inquinato terreno un'impronta, un assurdo segno del nostro passaggio. Lottare, sopravvivere, vivere, illudendosi con amarezza della nostra inutile presenza. Damn Robot 2016. Un po' di spazio, inteso come quella sostanza buia e misteriosa oltre la nostra atmosfera. Ma anche un po' di affascinante intimità da cameretta che si lascia sedurre facilmente da echeggianti ritmicità elettrificate. Centinaia di immagini che scorrono rapide di fronte ad un buio tenebroso. Tutto può essere dimenticato in un istante. Tutto può essere, in alternativa ad un galleggiamento imposto. Quello sporco rifugio del fare, quella logorante malattia del dover assolutamente terminare qualcosa, ingannandosi consapevolmente sulla reale importanza di quel qualcosa o, in alternativa, alla reale importanza della reale importanza.

"Incorporating ambient and shoegazing music with numerous metal and rock influences "Sirens" is the debut album by UK based duo Oceanus. Formed in 2008 by Alex Fawcett (Arboretus) and Rob Honey (Damn Robot! & Inachus), Oceanus performed extensively across the United Kingdom as a 5 piece before the band was forced into an undetermined hiatus in 2011. A year later Alex and Rob, who have now been writing and performing together in various guises for around a decade, decided to revive Oceanus and begin releasing new music. Notti insonni trascorse in mari agitati contrastano con fresche e quiete mattine. Destra e sinistra che si guardano incuriosite allo specchio. Rabbia che risale da un appartamento ricoperto da un'inutile frenesia. Pulsazioni riverberate da oscure ed umide caverne. Energica ed innocente gioventù, eternamente intenta a colorare i propri sogni. Spazi ariosi si alternano a linee gialle e rosse di buie vie cittadine. Volti indistinguibili si succedono come fotogrammi velocizzati. Un'ingiallita cartolina timbrata Seattle giace al muro dimenticata. Richieste di soccorso approvate con finzione mentre tutto procede inesorabilmente come il giorno prima. Un esercito di suono che avanza con maestosità e supponenza. "Sirens" è blu-scuro, è notturno, e si imbeve in un'immortale cupezza esistenziale.

Fruttuosa collaborazione tra i musicisti inglesi Oathless & Good Weather For An Airstrike, che con l'aggiunta della voce di Jamie Brett producono questo album piacevole e denso d'atmosfera. Spazi estesi, riverberi a tutto campo e ritmiche dilatate. Lunghi accordi di tastiere, pazienti attese senza essere a conoscenza di ciò che si sta aspettando. Lievi rumori di fondo, disturbati contatti telefonici, luminosità che faticano ad irradiarsi. L'aria è l'elemento naturale che più si addice a questo album, che senza dubbi rientra nella vasta categoria ambient, ma con qualche piccola concessione al pop. Cinque tracce, tutte piuttosto lunghe, tra cui due piccole perle, l'iniziale  "Omerta" e la finale "Through The Iris". Nulla di nuovo e innovativo, ma "Sol" possiede quell'intensità e densità che lo rendono particolarmente coinvolgente.

Damn Robot! - "Jasurp" (Hawk Moon Records 10)

"Damn Robot! is the project of brothers Rob (Inachus, Oceanus) and Tom (Good Weather For An Airstrike) Honey.This album has the chilled out ambient vibes that was on show in Good Weather for an airstrikes music. However, the music here is much more melodic! There is a massive variety of sounds and styles explored over the album with everything from trip-hop to stoner rock finding its way into the mix somewhere along the line. Each track has its own twists and turns keeping things unpredictable and intriguing. Most of the songs are quite long allowing for the various ideas to be fully explored and realises!"

La natura che plana sulla pelle ancora lievemente umida. Le nubi oltre ai tetti in pietra sono sempre piú oscure e aggrovigliandosi compongono figure minacciose. Uno, due, tre...siamo in tanti a non avere paura, o almeno cerchiamo di convincerci di non averla. Lucertole, insetti fritti...materia che si scompone e si rimescola creando ancora nuova materia...percezione di puzzo. La meravigliosa vita di un torrente. Il Lego benzinaio che finge di essere una rockstar. Notiziari a due colori e numerose ombre e costanti e impercettibili interferenze. Guarda! Un sole riflesso nella finestra! CassaCassa.....CassaSnareCassa.....Cassa. Mi piace. Affermazione insopportabile da quando Mark se ne é preso i diritti. Archi sintetici risucchiati da buchi neri terrestri. Lamentarsi non serve, questo ben lo sappiamo, ma probabilmente avere le guance lievemente salate ci provoca una gradevole sensazione. Post-Rock? What does it matter? Dilungarsi ha delle alte probabilità di farci allontanare dal nucleo centrale del discorso. Maledetti Robot...seduti sullo spigolo del limite...miracolosamente salvi dalla caduta.
