A volte ascoltare album come questo si ha la sensazione di avvicinarsi alla semi-perfezione della natura. Ogni suono o effetto sembra esser posizionato o livellato nel giusto posto in cui madre natura avrebbe prestabilito. Se successivamente si vuole poi atterrare in un qualsiasi aeroporto internazionale allora possiamo ascoltare dalla filodiffusione quella piacevole via di mezzo che si trova tra i suoni di Radiohead e Coldplay nelle loro espressioni più acustico-malinconiche. Non c'è presenza di tracce abbandonate a se stesse o di schizzi che non hanno subito la trasformazione in opera completa. Qui tutto suona perfetto. Da non confondersi con la perfezione regalata da software e computer. Qui la perfezione viene dall'anima di Gabriel Jorgensen e Matt Wilcox.

Con le mani protese in avanti, evitando spiacevoli ostacoli, nel mezzo di una spessa e densa oscuritá. Briciole minimaliste disposte a caso su pavimenti in graniglia. Due poster sbiaditi di Art of Noise ed Orb resistono alla crudeltà del tempo...passi che si succedono con ripetitiva lentezza verso stanze svuotate da traslochi recenti. I battiti del proprio cuore che rimangono l’unico elemento ritmico nella solitudine di una camera buia ed isolata. La colonna sonora perfetta per riprese effettuate all’interno di relitti di navi dormienti su immobili fondali marini.

Wonderbitch - "Loves You" (self released)

I Wonderbitch provengono da Bloomington (Texas) ed è un'altra band che affida il destino della propria musica al maxi-contenitore Bandcamp senza contare sull'appoggio di una label. L'album "Loves you" contiene 7 tracce che rimandano subito agli anni settanta riesumando dinosauri rock come Supertramp, Yes, Steely Dan, Genesis. Ma la capacità di Wonderbitch è quella di generare un prog-rock moderno con sfumature pop tralasciando tutti gli elementi più pesanti presenti nel passato. In alcuni casi, come nella briosa "Trophy" si avventurano in zone latin-electro-funky-dance ottenendo risultati ammirevoli. Sorvolando a volte atmosfere shoegaze, i quattro musicisti americani dimostrano di avere un'ottima tecnica strumentale e tanta creatività da spalmare nelle loro variegate composizioni. E devo ammettere che in mezzo a migliaia di megabyte di musica elettronica (seppur di ottima qualità) scoprire musicisti che sanno suonare egregiamente i propri strumenti con il giusto feeling è sempre un enorme piacere.
