Nuovo centro per l’ungherese Budabeats, che dopo aver proposto il revisited-funk di
Dokkerman and the Turkeying Fellaz, torna con un nuovo irresistibile album che mescola con disinvoltura funk, afro-music e battiti da club-music odierna. Le visioni dei sognatori degli anni 70 svanite tra le bancarelle virtuali di un mercato azionario senza scrupoli. Da ogni nota e battito di questo album esce una positive vibration preziosa. Torneremo tutti in piazza, magari anche solo per conoscerci personalmente. Conga, bonghi, organi sincopati e il basso, delegato come di consueto a reggere le fondamenta travestito da agente segreto.  Fiati, chitarre e wah wah...c’è proprio tutto ciò che serve per rendermi felice e un po’ meno angosciato. Guarda! C’è un treno diretto a Budapest...Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel, David Byrne e la cricca Real World salutano allegri dal finestrino! Due  luci in più nella barra led del mio umore. "Dokkerman & The Turkeying Fellaz are the freshest funk group Hungary has to offer at the moment. The nine piece band delivers exactly that raw and dirty oldschool sound of the late sixties/early seventies which we are into. Six funk’n’soul tracks spiced up with some afro and jazz elements, from slowburning jams to uptempo floorfillers. The band includes Zimon Péter (drums), Michelberger Tamás (organ), Jenei Miklós (bass), Sághy Bálint (guitar), Bada Emőke (MC), Nagy Illés (percussion, MC), El Balogh Krisztián (percussion), Lior Paz (sax) and Tóth Bence (trumpet)."

Scopro solo ora, a due mesi dall'uscita e grazie al mio collega blogger "Canili d'Adda", questo ottimo album funk firmato Dokkerman and the Turkeying Fellaz,  rilasciato dalla netlabel ungherese Budabeats. Loro si auto-definiscono una deep-funk-revival band, ed in effetti nel loro sound non ci sono grandi novità, ma per il sottoscritto, grande appassionato del genere, ascoltare questo album è una goduria assoluta. I nomi che mi si illuminano davanti agli occhi sono molti, da James Brown a Kool & the Gang (tra i più famosi). Ma anche musicisti di generazioni più recenti, come James Taylor Quartet o Medeski, Martin & Wood. Dokkerman and the Turkeying Fellaz riescono comunque ad ottenere un proprio sound, grezzo e sudato, molto live-pub. Viene il desiderio di prendere il primo aereo low-cost e volare in Ungheria ad assistere ad una loro performance. Batterie grasse, wah-wah guitars, organi, fiati e key-acid-sounds...questo è sporco funk, tra odori di sudore e corpi che si strofinano appiccicandosi l'uno all'altro in afose serate estive. 60? 70? 80? 90? No...2012. Il funk è ancora vivo.
